Intersection: Northside's Children's Ministry
where faith, family, & fun meet
The Intersection ministers primarily to children between the ages of 3 years-old and 5th grade. Our goal is that, by providing opportunities for spiritual education and Christian fellowship, our kids will live out our mission statement of “Growing in God’s Love, Learning His Truth, and Sharing His Love with Others.” Music, drama, Sunday School, Wednesday Night Bible Studies, themed events, family events, and special retreats are just some of the ways in which we grow in our relationship with Christ, have fun, and get to know all of the kids and families of Northside Church.
Our Mission is the following:
TO GROW: To create a healthy, spiritual atmosphere that allows each child to grow in their relationship with Jesus and with each other.
TO LEARN: To train each child in the knowledge of the Word, help them discover their own uniqueness, and equip them and their parents to live faithfully in an ever-changing world.
TO SHARE: To prepare each child to share the love of Christ with their family, friends, neighbors, community, and the world through their attitudes, actions, and words.
“And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life:
By word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity.”
1 Timothy 4:12
Sunday Morning Opportunities
Children's Church, Puppets, Music, & More!
Worship Services are held on Sundays at 8:15 AM, 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Children’s Church is available during the 8:15 am and 11:00 am services. In Children’s Church, our kids have an age-appropriate worship experience that includes Bible lessons, puppets, music, and more. Kids Express occurs during the Contemporary Worship Service at 9:00 am. It is for children who attend the 9:00 service and for children who attend the 8:15 service and are waiting for Sunday School to begin at 10:00.
Each week our acolytes light our alter candles, symbolically bringing the light of Christ into our worship space. 3rd – 5th graders are invited to serve as acolytes during our 8:15 and 11:00 worship services.

Wednesday Night Opportunities
Music, Praise Service, and Bible Study.
Three year-olds through 5th graders have regular music opportunities each week, including choirs, handbells, and musicals. Each Christmas, the kids participate in a unique musical about the message of Christmas. Music meets on Wednesday Nights from 5:15 – 5:45 in the Summit.
Mid-week worship is offered, for all ages, from 6:00 -6:45 PM in Hope Hall.
Wednesday Night Bible Study is offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 – 7:45 pm. We use different studies that address the different age-appropriate learning styles of our kids. We are committed to helping our students have a thorough knowledge of the Bible while encouraging them to connect is message to their everyday lives.
Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Room 117
3rd – 5th Grade: The Summit
This Bible study is hands-on! Teachers use fun, real-world objects to teach Bible truths, and kids dive in and get involved, learning as they explore and engage. Room 117.
Covenant Kids (3rd-5th)
This 3-year original curriculum is designed for the purpose of training our children in Bible knowledge and scripture memorization. This Bible study incorporates solid Bible teaching, word puzzles, games, and scripture memory. The Summit.
Easter Egg Hunt
Children fifth grade and younger are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt on the church grounds on the Saturday before Easter. Following the hunt, special activities such as puppet shows, games, crafts, and photo opportunities can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Vacation Bible School
Children from three years old through graduated fifth graders are invited to participate during this exciting and energetic week from 9:00 AM to noon each day. Children will enjoy skits, crafts, storytelling, music, games and snacks. The week ends with a presentation at our Sunday Worship services. Many youth and adults help make this the most fun week of summer vacation!
Our goal is to connect children with opportunities to serve people who are in need around the world or even across the street. The children actively participate in four quarterly mission projects every year. Some of the groups we team up with include the Jackson Madison County Public School System, Hands Up!, and Gamasara United Methodist Church in Tanzania, Africa.
Third through fifth graders attend a weekend retreat at Lakeshore at the end of the summer. Whether they’re rocking out to great worship tunes, playing crazy games, swimming in the water park, creating team covenants, or sharing and discussing in small groups, the kids are learning about God’s love for them.
Northside’s fall festival is a time of family fun and community outreach. Highlights of this event include costumes, candy, great food, trunk or treating, inflatables, and games for all ages. This is one of the major family events of the year.
More Special Events
Children's Christmas Musical
Each Christmas our preschool through fifth graders participate in a special musical about the message of Christmas. While the musical is different each year, the message is the same: God’s love and care for us is apparent through the birth of his son, Jesus.
Family Advent Night
The whole family is invited to this special night where we celebrate families and the beginning of Advent. We eat dinner together, sing Christmas carols, play games, make crafts, and learn about Advent.
We offer a variety of special events for kids throughout the year, such as the N.B.A. Weekend (No Boys Allowed), 3G Lock-In (Games, Guys, and Grub), Maplewood Flower Power Project, Christmas Caroling Celebration, ABC Adventures for Preschool, Parablelooza, and Summer Send-Off Party.
Bibles for Third Graders
Each year, we give our third graders new Bibles to encourage them to explore God’s Word.

These bags are provided for younger children who appreciate having something designed especially for them in worship.
